NFC Marketing Material

The marketing potential of Near Field Communication (NFC) is surely one of the most exciting and untapped areas of the new technology, and one which we are now starting to see take shape. While many businesses might be using NFC within their day to day activities, be it through cashless payment or wearable tracking devices, it could be argued they are not fully exploiting the technology as well as they could without incorporating NFC as part of their marketing strategies. In this blog, we look at some examples of NFC marketing material.


The brochure of the future

It seems likely that soon the days of removing crumpled pamphlets from your pockets after events, or dumping weighty brochures into the nearest filing cabinet, could be over. That's because NFC has given us a new way of providing more marketing information to a target audience, in a more engaging and convenient form. Anything from a fridge magnet to a business card can now activate a download of marketing material onto a user's smartphone - they just need to tap their device in order to access it.


Smart Posters

From iconic pre-War posters for some of the UK's biggest brands, to more recent billboard classics such as the traffic stopping Calvin Klein underwear ads, display advertising has long been a favoured way of projecting a marketing message. Perhaps the biggest advances have been made in recent times thanks to NFC in the form of 'smart posters'. Now our display advertising campaigns can actually 'talk' to passers by, encouraging them to tap a mobile device in order to receive information on the subject matter. From Facebook posters that ask for an on-the-spot 'like' in return for a special offer or discount, to posters from big brands such as Nike that allow customers to place an immediate order for some Nike trainers by tapping, the possibilities are endless.

Those are just some of the ways in which NFC is revolutionising marketing. While it is still seen as a fresh innovation by some, those businesses which incorporate it into their marketing strategy sooner rather than later, give themselves a chance of finding a whole new conversion route.
